For Justin Hodges, owner and expert bench jeweler, fine jewelry is a family business. Starting in the 1930’s, his great-grandfather was a watch maker and store owner in White Pigeon, Michigan for 40 years. His father was a dental technician, which surprisingly utilizes many of the same techniques a goldsmith uses.
As a child, he and his brother grew up experimenting with these tools to create interesting pieces. After high school, Justin attended school in Illinois to study goldsmithing. Upon graduation, he worked for several big jewelry businesses before branching out on his own and opening Hodges Jewelers in 2007.
